Ready, set...

I know, I know. The whole get-healthy-because-it's-a-new-year is a bit overdone. But after months of telling myself "I'll start next week" it seemed like now is as good of time as any. That, and the universe must have known I needed a swift kick in the rear--because I got an invitation from my cousin to join an online weight loss competition--and it starts tomorrow.

I've spent a lot of time of the last couple of weeks trying to mentally prepare for this journey. It's funny how the "journey" to put on all this weight was quite mindless--but the journey to get back down is going to be as mentally demanding as it is physically. I know it's going to be a lot of work. I am a type B person through and through. Planning is not in my nature and intend to fly by the seat of my pants. Unfortunately more often than not, flying by the seat of my pants seems to lead me in a frenzied dash through Wendy's drive thru while trying to get the children here, there and every where. Flying by the seat of my pants has lead to a very big pair of pants.

So as I mentally prepare for the week ahead--I have decided to set a weekly goal. The goal for this week? Plan, plan, plan.

Tonight I "riced" some cauliflower, prepared some green monster smoothie kits and browned some chicken breasts. I listed my meal plans for the next two days on livestrong.com. Having a plan and staying two steps ahead of a frenzied panic will be key for me!
